One of the biggest joys in my life was the birth of my nephew, Fischer Jones. At the time of this piece's composition, Fischer was 1.5 years old. This prelude and fugue then is a musical portrait of my toddler nephew. As such, the music is "clumsy" with motives stumbling over each other, unclear tonal centers, and non-functional harmonies.
