Teaching
Teaching is an integral part of my life as an artist. I see the art of teaching to be a spiritual practice of sorts since it allows me to connect with a student as they develop their inner musical voice. Since each student is unique, I work with my students to create well-rounded lesson plans and programs which are geared to the student’s particular musical interests, capabilities, and goals. Rather than teaching students to play exactly as I do, it is my ultimate goal as a teacher to allow others to find and develop their own personal playing styles and interpretations. To accomplish this goal, students are given well rounded lessons covering practical playing technique, practice strategies, music theory, and other relevant musical concepts.
Throughout my years of experience, I have taught students from a variety of backgrounds and skill levels. Many are sitting at the piano for the first time while others come with years of prior experience looking to refine their technique and polish their performances. Some come as adult hobbyists, others as talented high-schoolers, others as music majors at conservatories, and others as young children with a musical curiosity.
